NBA 2K MEMORIES

Video games have had an impact on multiple people’s lives. It could solely be based a relationship with another person you are playing the game with or an emotional impact from the game. I have had some childhood friends from elementary school that I always try to keep in touch with growing up. Keeping in touch and growing up are two things that are hard to. As I know for myself, it was hard to keep in touch with a lot of my childhood friends as I moved to three different states for amateur hockey once I turned 18. I always played video games when I had some off time and some of my childhood friends didn’t have any gaming console so I wasn’t even able to communicate with them through that as that can share a much better experience rather than just texting each other all the time.

In 2017 I really got into NBA 2k17 but got really annoyed with playing online by myself. I decided to get in contact with my one childhood friends Mart. Mart and I grew up together and played basketball a lot. We worked together getting older as well and were always talking Sixers basketball and other NBA teams but lost contact as soon as I left for hockey. I decided to call him up and see if he wanted to buy a console and NBA 2k17 and he actually said screw it why not!

We started to play nonstop and we actually got ranked in the top 100 for pro-am and were getting close to being in the NBA 2k Pro-Am tournament, where the best players in the world play. Sadly we didn’t qualify for the tournament. We started to go snowboarding a lot when I would come home on weekends from college and just overall hangout together a lot more. As the years pasted we continue to play NBA 2k nonstop but we did stop for a year or so because the game started to get a bit annoying. We were always trying to make it to the top 100 to qualify for the NBA 2k Pro-Am tournament but still have yet to make the tournament.

This past Christmas we saw each other as I came home for winter break and we went out for couple drinks and got to talking about NBA 2k and how much it has brought us together. We thought back and saw how we almost didn’t say a word to each other for almost three years till we started playing video games together. We thought it was crazy that just playing a video game every day and not even seeing each other in person for a couple years could bring us so close together. This video game has brought us so close together again that he has asked me to be his best man at his wedding next year. Video games bring people together every day and all sorts of way. People have to look at how video are for the positive in multiple ways. I thank god NBA 2k was a game because it brought me closer to a lot of friends.
